Kitchen Jugaad - how to crush jaggery

I tried making an amazing sweet for Diwali this year. I went to the shop and got the required ingredients - one of which was Jaggery. It looked like this.

To make the sweet, I had to crush these blocks into smaller pieces of jaggery and melt them. Since I am living by myself and I don't cook anything beyond the basics, my kitchen was not well equipped for this purpose. I was looking for something heavy to crush them when I noticed my dumbells in the corner.

And then I did the most natural thing that anyone would have done at that moment 🙂

On a side note, the sweet turned out to be excellent. I could not believe that I made it myself. It was so good. Its made of flattened rice , jaggery, ripened bananas. (High-level recipe: Roast flattened rice. Melt jaggery, add chopped bananas once the jaggery is melted. after some time add the roasted flattened rice as well and stir for a while. You can also add roasted cashews/raisins for garnishing)

PS: I realized that this method can be used for crushing other stuff like garlic, pepper, etc. Wrap the food item in a piece of paper/aluminum foil and crush it.
